Willow River: A Park Without Barriers

Experience Little Falls Lake Like Never Before

Our latest project is our biggest one yet, and it’s built for you. We believe the beauty of Willow River should be a park without barriers, which is why we’re introducing a level of accessibility never before seen in our area. From the fresh air to the stunning views of Little Falls Lake, we’re changing the way our community experiences the great outdoors—one accessible path at a time.

At the heart of this project will be a new Universally Accessible Kayak and Canoe and SUP Launch designed to provide safe, stable, and convenient access to the spectacular 170-acre Little Falls Lake for physically challenged paddlers.

Help us build

an inclusive shoreline.

For many individuals with mobility limitations, the opportunity to glide across open water can bring a profound sense of freedom, independence, and connection to the natural world—an experience too often out of reach. A loading ramp, wheelchair transfer bench along with overhead grab bars and other key accessible features make this all possible with this launch system.

Alongside the accessible features, the launch will also serve as a stable, user-friendly entry point for able-bodied kayakers and canoeists, ensuring everyone can enjoy a smooth start to their paddling journey and enjoy the natural beauty and recreational treasures of your park.

This is more than just a place to launch. It’s a bridge to the water for everyone.

It’s a commitment to ensuring that the spectacular, 170-acre Little Falls Lake is accessible to every paddler through safe, stable and convenient access.

Why this matters:

  • Accessibility for All: Designed for paddlers of all abilities.

  • Leading the Way: This will be the first system of its kind in St. Croix County.

  • Preserving the Experience: Enhancing how we enjoy our non-motorized waters.

This is a huge milestone for Willow River State Park, and we’re just getting started.

Stay tuned— more details (and some very exciting ways to get involved) are heading your way soon!
