Free Nature Journaling
Weekly on Tuesdays in June from 1-3pm. Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Join us weekly for Nature Journaling, a relaxed program welcoming both beginners and experienced journalers. Explore guided prompts, practice observation skills, and capture the natural world on the page. All materials are provided, and each session stands on its own. Come once or return all summer.
This event is free to attend for participants of all ages, but vehicle admission into the park is required.

Among The Grasses
Thursday, June 18th at 1pm. Meet at the Group Campground Parking lot.
Take a family‑friendly walk through a short‑grass prairie and explore what makes this ecosystem unique. We’ll talk about the animals that live here, the remarkable adaptations of prairie plants, and how fire helps keep the landscape healthy and thriving.

Willow River State Park Historical Hike
Saturday, June 20 at 9am. Meet at the gravel parking lot across from the Group Camp Parking lot.
Join local tour guide Ida-Ellen on a walk through the Pioneer Trail and explore some of Willow Rivers most interesting sites as we uncover Wisconsin's natural and cultural history.
This event is free to attend, but vehicle admission into the park is required. Donations to your tour guide are welcome and make our programming possible.

Father’s Day Hike at Kinnickinnic State Park
Sunday, June 21st. Hike leaves at 10am sharp. Meet at the Kinnickinnic State Park Red Trailhead gravel parking lot off of 770th avenue.
This hike is for everyone who wants to celebrate the spirit of Father’s Day! Bring along someone special—a friend, family member, mentor, or anyone who has been a caring presence in your life—and join us for a refreshing 3-mile round-trip hike through the beautiful trails of Kinnickinnic State Park. Please come dressed for the weather, bring water, and wear sturdy hiking boots. We look forward to celebrating together!

Pollinator Discovery Table
-National Pollinator Week
Tuesday, June 23rd at 10 am to 12 pm Near the Beach Pavillion.
Stop by our pop-up table to learn about Wisconsin Pollinators as we continue celebrating National Pollinator Week! Our table will include information and fun activities perfect to stay and play or stop for a quick peek.

Pollinator Nature Journaling -National Pollinator Week
Tuesday, June 23rd From 1 pm to 3 pm Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Join us for a special Nature Journaling class themed just for National Pollinator Week! You will have the option to explore guided prompts and even create your own Pollinator Observation Journal! All materials are provided.

Pollinator Crafts For Kids!

Wednesday, June 24th from 2pm to 4pm. Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Come make some fun pollinator crafts to celebrate National Pollinator Week! Make a cute butterfly plant stake or a gorgeous butterfly suncatcher to bring home and enjoy. All materials are provided.

Incredible Invertebrates - National Pollinator Week
Thursday, June 25th at 1 pm. Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Come and celebrate National Pollinator Week at our weekly bug hunt with a special pollinator theme. We will look for, observe and possibly catch invertebrates with a focus on our local pollinators in the beautiful gardens around the Nature Center.

Friday, June 26th at 6 PM. Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Come down to the Nature Center and learn about bees and butterflies and their roles as pollinators while you make a solitary bee house or butterfly puddler to bring home!

Plants for Pollinators - National Pollinator Week
Saturday, June 27th at 2 PM. Meet at the Willow River Nature Center.
Join our volunteer Karen Swisher as she takes you around the native plant gardens outside the nature center and learn about planting for pollinators on this interpretive walk. You may even have the chance to bring home a free native plant plug!

Moths as Pollinators - National Pollinator Week
Saturday, June 27th at 8:30 PM near the Nature Center.
Join us for an evening under the stars as we lure moths in and learn about their role as important Wisconsin pollinators. Feel free to bring a chair or blanket to sit on and don’t forget your bug spray!
